Abstract:

Loop-erased random walk, LERW, is the random self-avoiding walk one gets after erasing the loops from a simple random walk.  With Greg Lawler we recently showed in a series of papers that LERW converges as a curve parametrized by renormalized length to an SLE(2) curve parametrized by 5/4-dimensional Minkowski content. In the talk, I will attempt to explain what all this means and indicate what goes into the proofs.
