Research in mathematics
Our mathematical research is particularly strong in different forms of analysis, analytic number theory, algebra, topology, geometry and probability theory. One of the more distinctive areas is symplectic geometry, that has a close connection to the quantum and string theory. Other areas in which we conduct research in mathematics are financial mathematics, mathematical logic and mathematical statistics.
Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematics
The Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematics (CIM) in Uppsala facilitates joint research between the mathematical sciences and other disciplines. Our aim is to integrate mathematics and science in order to understand real world systems.
